What is couples’ therapy like online?
Couples often appreciate having this as an option. The experience is unique for each couple. Overall, couples report feeling a little awkward in the beginning. Eventually, they are able to relax and fully engage in the process. They appreciate being in their own home and not having to worry about the normal life stressors such as traffic, childcare etc.
What if we don’t like online therapy?
This will be discussed and if appropriate the sessions can be transitioned to the office setting.
How will we be scheduled?
In the beginning, I schedule my couples to meet with me once a week for four weeks. Afterwards they are schedule every other week for six weeks. Eventually, couples progress to monthly sessions. The frequency and duration of sessions are assessed throughout services. Sessions are scheduled at a mutually agreed upon time.
How many sessions will we need to have?
I ask couples to commit to 12 to 14 sessions. The duration of treatment varies based on the needs of the couple. I support couples with effectively processing relationship strengths and challenges. Common therapy goals include but are not limited to rebuilding connection, reducing conflict, creating ownership, increasing emotional intimacy, and effectively resolving conflict.
What is your therapy style?
I’m genuine in my approach and use a variety of strategies to build and maintain a trusting professional relationship with the couple. The Gottman approach and Imago theory are models I use to help identify relationship problems and create healthier patterns of connection and intimacy. Overall, I’m both gentle and firm throughout sessions.
Can you help us?
Absolutely! If you would like to improve your relationship and get it back on track, I can help. Why does it cost so much?
“Affordable” is often the word used when seeking therapy and “priceless” is the word use upon completion of therapy. The cost of the session is based on my experience and the duration of the session.
